Petra's 50th birthday was already two months old but she never received her gift ... well, until she finally did ... and she and Margit boarded a train to Berlin. Margit from Vienna, Petra from The Hague (and the Deutsche Bahn was doing good this time!). Over a prolonged weekend they not only celebrated Petra's birthday but also their long friendship in style to which an almost infinite number of empty cocktail glasses bore convincing witness! But diminishing this trip to pure boozing would not do the two travellers any justice since a lot of places of historical and cultural interest were planned and visited as well: A trip to the Siegessäule, a boat cruise on the river Spree, marveling at the mighty Reichstag and the legendary Brandenburger Tor, visiting Potsdamer Platz, Kurfürstendamm and Kadewe as well as seeing thoughful sights like the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Concluding the trip with trips to Charlottenburg Castle, Checkpoint Charly, Gendarmenmarkt and Alexander Square on their last day both adventurers realised that time passed by quicker than they hoped it would. But eventually every beautiful trip has come to an end at some point but before they parted ways, the thought of a friendship that will keep going was a calming end to their adventure in a city of astonishing vibe, beauty and historial significance!
